Hosner is one of the many beautiful lakes in the Cascade Mountains south of Bend, Oregon. Though it is a lake, it paddles more like a lazy river – there’s a sort of winding path through the reeds and little islands. Loading/unloading and parking can be tight on nice days – get there early.
The construction of the Chenaux Dam downstream flooded the much of the Lower River. However, it did not destroy the beauty of this part of the river. Its perfect water for a sea kayak. Also known as a touring kayak, these sleek craft are fast but stable. We have both single and double. Not only do you have fun paddling but your guide is knowledgeable about the history and wildlife of this part of the river. Our one day sea kayak trip includes: * sea kayak rental * Scenic riverside lunch * full day on the water * use of the Rafter’s resort’s facilities If you’d like to add our overnight camping or accommodation package to this trip it’s easy. If you are looking for a full 5 day program our Family Adventure Camp includes a day sea kayak trip and 4 other great days of activities. The price of 5 days of adventure for your family just may surprise you!

Kayaking: How to Load a Kayak On the Car – as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. One of the things about kayaking is, how am I gonna haul my kayak. In this particular case, there are rollers that are available, that you can buy to put your kayaks on and roll them up from any dock or any other location. You can also have all of your equipment in it or anything else that you might need and it makes it a nice, easy thing to pull. The second thing is what type of application or apparatus will I put my boat on, and that is gonna vary based upon what type of car or vehicle that you have. In this particular case, what I have done is, I have got kayak stackers that allows me to pick up a lightweight eddy-line boat. I can pick it up and stack it right on top of my boat like this, over the top here, set it up on to the bars and then I simply just get up in here and I flip it up and put it up against the bars and then from here what I would do is wrap a strap over it, come around and grab it on this side to secure it properly. If I am gonna travel a long distance, I will also run a rope off my front nose down to my front bumper to help secure it and keep it in place. Again, it is a great way to haul your boats. There are thousand of ways to do it. Make sure you check with your local rack people to get the proper devices for your vehicle.
