Kayaking: How to Load a Kayak On the Car – as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. One of the things about kayaking is, how am I gonna haul my kayak. In this particular case, there are rollers that are available, that you can buy to put your kayaks on and roll them up from any dock or any other location. You can also have all of your equipment in it or anything else that you might need and it makes it a nice, easy thing to pull. The second thing is what type of application or apparatus will I put my boat on, and that is gonna vary based upon what type of car or vehicle that you have. In this particular case, what I have done is, I have got kayak stackers that allows me to pick up a lightweight eddy-line boat. I can pick it up and stack it right on top of my boat like this, over the top here, set it up on to the bars and then I simply just get up in here and I flip it up and put it up against the bars and then from here what I would do is wrap a strap over it, come around and grab it on this side to secure it properly. If I am gonna travel a long distance, I will also run a rope off my front nose down to my front bumper to help secure it and keep it in place. Again, it is a great way to haul your boats. There are thousand of ways to do it. Make sure you check with your local rack people to get the proper devices for your vehicle.

This two-day or three-day whitewater kayak instruction course is designed to introduce beginner paddlers to the sport of white water kayaking. The goal of this course is to provide novice kayakers with a solid foundation of basic kayaking skills necessary to begin kayaking in Class I and II whitewater. The course is based out of our riverside headquarters in the Columbia River Gorge. On the first day, we will introduce students to the equipment necessary for kayaking and assist students with equipment selection and boat fitting. We will then spend time in the pool learning the basics of safe boat exit and practicing the fundamentals for the Eskimo roll progression. After the pool session, we are off to the lake to work on the basics of kayak handling and maneuvering. The second two days of the course are spent on the rivers of the Columbia River Gorge developing fundamental paddling skills. Progressing from slow moving water to class II whitewater, we will practice basic boat handling, eddy-turns and peel-outs, ferrying, water reading, self-rescue techniques, and safe paddling techniques.
