I always though it would be fun to operate my Ham Radio station from a boat. After I’d read Jim W1PID’s web page a year or so ago about when he had operated from his kayak on Hermit Lake. So I put my IC703 in a dry bag and rigged up the Buddipole Vertical in my kayak. So who’s my contact no other than Jim/W1PID! OK i’m not going to get state of the art kayaking equipment i am just asking how expensive average kayaking equipment is.
My friend and I are looking for an estuary, reserve or something very smooth and easy to go kayaking. I don’t know what’s good this time of year, if anything. We’re open to a tour and would have to rent kayaks either way.

Hello world! I want to take my boyfriend out on a birthday-valentine’s kayaking trip but would love to treat him to some really good food during the trip. I have no idea what to pack since I’m not exactly a gourmet cook. He’s a guy who likes pizza and anything chicken. There’s lots of room and I can bring ice for cold drinks but what else can I impress him with? I would appreciate any thoughts on healthy and hearty easy to put together foods please…thanks so much for the ideas! 
I am in Orange County Central Florida. I’ve been in a “beginner” kayak for over 4 years now and want to upgrade! I was thinking of whitewater kayaking or open ocean or sea kayaking. Is there any place close by I can take lessons?
I mean when you do it right, like the sprint kayak competitors. Not like taking a leisurely paddle on the river.
I am a rower but I cannot afford my own shell to practice in by myself. I know rowing works more muscles, but would kayaking work muscles that matter for rowing or is it all just arms?
